The Bee Book ~patent pending~

Turn your backyard into a living storybook with the Bee Book Observation Bee Box. An interactive and Intricately designed nesting habitat that lets you observe the secret life of solitary bees up close, page by page.

Crafted like a wooden book, this nesting box features individual “pages” of nesting tunnels with removable plexiglass panels on each layer. Hinges allow the layers to open like a book, offering a gentle, non-invasive way to peek inside and witness the bees at work, laying eggs, sealing off chambers, and growing from egg to larva, to cocoon and even watching adult bees emerge from their cocoons.

At the top of the Bee Book, you’ll find a cocoon storage chamber with an exit hole, ideal for cocoons, giving emerging bees an easy way to find their way out come spring.

Each “page” includes illustrations and bee facts, making it perfect for kids, classrooms, and anyone curious about native pollinators.

How to Use:

1. Hang in a Dappled Sunlight Spot – Use the keyhole slot on the back for secure, flush mounting on a fence or wall facing southeast for morning sun.  The Bee Book needs to mounted flush against a wall or structure to protect the nesting blocks from the environment and rain.

2. Watch the Bees Nest – Solitary bees like mason and leafcutter bees will use the tunnels to lay eggs and seal in provisions for their young.

3. Peek Inside – Open the hinged layers to view the tunnels through the plexiglass windows.

4. Harvest & Store Cocoons – In fall, you can harvest the cocoons and place them in an unheated shed or garage and in the spring place the cocoons in the upper storage area of The Bee Book.

5. Learn & Share – Enjoy the illustrated facts on each page and turn your Bee Book into an educational tool for all ages.

The Bee Book isn’t just a nesting box—it’s a window into the secret & wild world of bees and a celebration of their essential role in our ecosystem.

This is handmade, from the artwork, cutting the wood and plexiglass, there will be some “happy little accidents” that may not be identical to the one pictured, it will be functional.
The Bee Book is made for our cavity nesting bees, since the bees are wild, we cannot guarantee that the bees will use this book, even with the correct dimensions for the cavities, the bees may use another desirable cavities to nest.

Other solitary insects like beneficial non agressive wasps could also use this and it is very interesting to observe them as well.
