Would you like to have more diversity and different species of bees in your backyard?
Did you know that solitary bees are the best pollinators for native plants in our area since they evolved together for thousands of years!
Solitary bees can provide better pollination rates and can even increase your yield of crops!
We provide a solitary bee service which we place a small bee box with natural reeds and bees which will pollinate your backyard.
In the Spring time, we bring the pollinator box with mason bees and together we pick a location for the box. At this point you will receive mason bees cocoons that will be in the box ready to emerge. After a few days to 2 weeks, the bees will emerge, then mate, and start foraging, pollinating and nest making. After about 4-6 weeks, the Mason bees will have filled some of the nesting material, but throughout the summer, other cavity nesting bees will also use these tubes. Midsummer we will come back over and install Leafcutter bee cocoons, and as the same with Mason bees will emerge, mate, start foraging, pollinating and nesting.
At the end of the season, we will take the box with the nesting material and bees to a safe place to store for the winter and if you continue to want this service, we will bring the box back the following Spring.
Placement requirements:
Bee box on a solid structure
or sitting on solid structure.
We also offer a stand alone bird house pole
It is important to note that while the bees are provided with the nesting box, they may choose to nest elsewhere. Cavity nesting bees seek out natural cavities such as plant stems, old beetle burrows, or other small openings. They do not create holes themselves but will use existing structures that suit their needs.
These bees do not produce honey.
